How Renuvion® Rejuvenates Aging Skin

Each new year is made for a fresh start, but it’s been historically difficult to undo the passage that time has on our skin — until recently. Thanks to advancing technologies and a better understanding of the forces that create tired, sagging skin, we can dial back the years and refresh and rejuvenate your skin.

At Cosmetic Surgery Center, this technology comes in the form of Renuvion® J-plasty, an innovative technology Dr. Trent Fogleman and our team use to hit the reset button on your skin. Here’s how.

How aging affects your skin

Before we take a closer look at our exciting Renuvion J-plasma system, let’s first review what we’re up against when it comes to the passage of time in our body’s largest organ — our skin.

As you age, the outer layer of the tissue — your epidermis — begins to thin, and the number of melanocytes (cells that contain pigment) begins to decrease. The melanocytes that remain then become larger, which is what leads to age spots.

Underneath the surface of your skin, your elastin and collagen fibers begin to break down, causing your skin to sag and wrinkle without these supportive fibers.

The end result of these changes is that your skin succumbs to gravity and begins to droop at the same time as surface blemishes increase.

Enter Renuvion

To fight back against the aging processes in your skin, we offer Renuvion J-plasma treatments, which rejuvenate your skin using two different energies: helium-derived plasma and radiofrequency (RF) energy.

First, we heat your skin with RF energy, and then we quickly (in less than a second) cool it down with plasma. This hot-cold combination causes your skin to contract and tighten at the same time as it calls on increased collagen production for longer-lasting results.

With Renuvion, we can not only tighten the tissue from below, we can resurface your skin by ablating the surface, effectively getting rid of concerns like age spots, spider veins, and other blemishes.

Inside out or outside in

We can use Renuvion in one of two ways to breathe new life into aging skin: externally or internally.

Externally

For skin resurfacing, we can use Renuvion from the outside to clear away old and damaged skin cells, which makes room for newer, healthier skin cells to come in.

Internally

If you want to tighten your skin from the inside, we can deliver the Renuvion energies via a cannula that we insert below the surface of your skin. This approach can be used on its own to tighten sagging skin or as an adjunct to liposuction, a procedure in which we remove fat cells.

Skin rejuvenation from head to toe

When it comes to where we can use the Renuvion system, our patients have seen great results in their:

As you can see, we can use Renuvion from head to toe.

Your results are both immediate and gradual, as Renuvion instantly tightens skin and clears away damaged skin. Afterward, the treatment creates a longer-term rebuilding process, so you’ll enjoy optimal results in about 6-12 weeks.

If you’d like to go back in time this year, at least as far as your skin is concerned, contact our office in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to schedule your Renuvion J-plasma treatment.
