Getting Your First Cosmetic Injectable Treatment? Here's What to Expect

For the past two decades, it’s no exaggeration to say that cosmetic injectables like Botox® and dermal fillers have taken the cosmetic world by storm. In 2020, nearly 8 million of these procedures were performed in the United States, making them the top minimally invasive cosmetic procedures.

If you’re impressed by the amazing results your friends are garnering with cosmetic injectables and you want to see what they can do for you, you’ve come to the right place. Dr. Trent Fogleman and the team here at Cosmetic Surgery Center have been fulfilling aesthetic goals for years, and cosmetic injectables are key tools in our arsenal.

One of the primary reasons why cosmetic injectables are so popular is that they’re quick and easy. Let’s take a look.

Getting your injectables

When you first come in, we spend a little time with you evaluating your goals and discussing your different options in cosmetic injectables. It's quite amazing what we can accomplish with Botox and dermal fillers, including Radiesse®, Juvéderm®, Belotero®, and Sculptra®

With these injectables, we can:

Once we figure out what you’d like to accomplish, we can get started.

As the name suggests, cosmetic injectables are just that — injections. To ensure your comfort, we apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to minimize any discomfort.

Once you’re ready, we quickly administer the injections, and then we supply you with an ice pack afterward to keep redness, swelling, and bruising to a minimum.

And that’s it. At this point, you’re free to go.

After your cosmetic injectables

If you bruise easily, it’s a good idea to continue with your ice packs for the rest of the day. While there's no downtime after these treatments, it’s still a good idea to steer clear of certain activities until the next day, such as those that force your head down (think downward facing dog in yoga).

If you’ve had fillers, we also recommend that you try to sleep on your back for the first night so you’re not smushing your face into a pillow.

If, despite your best efforts, bruising or redness develops, these side effects are generally short-lived.

Getting to your results

Aside from being quick and easy, another reason why cosmetic injectables are so popular is that your results are fast. In fact, your results from the dermal fillers are immediate, which means you walk out with your results already in place.

For Botox, results take a little more time — about 3-7 days. Each day, you’ll notice your wrinkles fading away a little more until you’re left with a smooth surface.
