Brachioplasty
(Arm Lift)
This procedure is used to remove excess skin commonly referred to as "bat wings".
Is it safe?
It is a very safe and satisfying procedure and usually performed under general anesthesia.
What is it for?
It is used to remove the excess skin that people get usually after a large weight loss or due to aging. It is actually excess skin that cannot be reduced with exercise. The negative is that a large incision is usually made from the armpit to the elbow. Sometimes, liposuction is a better alternative than arm tuck, but this cannot be determined until the patient is seen for consultation. The patient will need to use a compression type of dressing for at least 1 week following surgery.
New Tecnique to minimize scarring...
The new Mini Incision. The incision is hidden in the armpit. This is sometimes an option when combined with liposuction surgery. Probably 50% of all patients are candidates for this new procedure.
